#TopTenTuesday: Top Ten ALL TIME Weird Fiction Favorites

You wouldn’t know it to look at my fledgling book review blog here, but I do read things outside YA fantasy. I’ve recently discovered the wonderful world of YA, though, and I’m smitten. But truly if I had to pick my favorite genre it’d be dark fantasy, and specifically weird fiction. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is “Top 10 All Time Favorite Books of X Genre.” I’m submitting the following from weird fiction:

  • The Imago Sequence, Laird Barron

  • The Ritual, Adam Nevill

  • Hull Zero Three, Greg Bear

  • Threats, Amelia Gray

  • Songs of a Dead Dreamer, Thomas Ligotti

  • The Croning, Laird Barron

  • A Book of Tongues, Gemma Files

  • Annihilation, Jeff Vandermeer

  • The Ones that Got Away, Stephen Graham Jones

  • The Beautiful Thing that Awaits Us All, Laird Barron

Here’re 6 collections to check out if you want a bigger and more diverse sampling of what the weird has to offer:

Dreams from the Witch House: Female Voices of Lovecraftian Horror, edited by Lynne Jamneck

She Walks in Shadows, edited by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Year’s Best Weird Fiction, 2015: Vol. One, edited by Laird Barron

The Coming of Conan (Conan the Cimmerian, #1), by Robert E. Howard, edited by Patrice Louinet
